Darian just wasn't able to sleep. He was thinking on the things that happened that day. He was thinking on that undead, he was thinking that he was almost to be killed, he was thinking for the first time at how good it is to be alive. That gave him a weird feeling. "Better stop thinking about this and get some sleep. But hey! Here's something I forgot all about!" He just remembered about his uncle's scroll casket. He took it, along with an amulet and a ring. He didn't open the casket because he never had enough time, but being unable to sleep, he decided it was a good moment to check it out. He steadily opened it and found that it was full of spell scrolls. "Lucky me! Got something to do for the night!". He picked the first spell scroll there. "Hmm... looks like a conjuration spell. Let's see if I can learn it..." He stood the whole night trying to memorize the spell, until he figured out he knew it well. "Let's see what it does!" But being tired, he immediately fell asleep. He slept for 2 hours, enough to make him fresh again. Being in a joyous mood, he decided to try that spell he learnt. "Just for security I'll cast an invisibility on myself... ok... it's done. Let me see if I remember it well: Antaka maurantu alia faurok taminia... ... ... kazso!" Suddenly, the earth trembled, fire started pouring out of the ground and a winged creature appeared there. It seemed confused for being summoned here, and yet not seeing anyone... Darian was shocked to death! He summoned a gigantic Balor from the 9 hells. "I'm doomed..."...

Name: Sammy

Race: Halfling
Class: Rogue/Shadowdancer
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Deity: Grandpa Joe (me always loved his muffins !)
Weapon of Choice: Dragontooth (Uncle Willy's personal dagger)

Background
Oy mates, now this is me story: When me was just a little street urchin, the older halflings made fun of me because me was shorter than them. So then me just stabbed them all in the back with a little dagger me found in uncle Willy's dusty closet. And so me got expelled. After that, me joined the thieves guild. But because they saw me was just a little kid, they didn't gave me important jobs like killing rich people or stuff like that. So me made a little bit of coin washing old socks. But after 10 years me became a great rogue and a shadowdancer. So when me thought  the moment was right, me stabbed the big boss in the back with me old dagger. And so me was the only boss.

He entered the room a bit uneasy. He knew what was awaiting him… he knew he has to recall the future with all the bittersweet and ugly memories. After he placed his sword on the corner set down on chair next to the windows, with his back to the pale moonlight which was lighting the room. Earlier for a second, overwhelmed by a moment of weakness he let his thoughts echo through trough the world… they could have been understood by any curious mind. He was determined not to do that again! After she took off her cloth and lit a candle, he could see better her shape, her face, her lips, and her eyes… those glowing eyes. He could easily read in them. He saw the women’s struggle after he left… He saw how her heart was covered by darkness and hatred. But he knew that hate is not the opposite of love… the opposite is indifference> and she wasn’t indifferent that was for sure… He knew he was waiting him to apologize, or maybe to beg… But he just sat there for long seconds in silence… He was admiring her, analyzing her, reading her mind and soul, and reading his own…
Suddenly he heard a noise, outside the window. An easy almost unfelt presence was there… He glanced immediately at his sword… But he felt that presence earlier… He understood that it was the way too curious young adventurer… When he finally left, Zendurion got up and closed the curtains, leaving the moon outside, alone with the stars. The room sank into the darkness. But it was a warm and somehow comfy darkness. He grabbed his chair and sat down in front of her, leaving just a few inches distance. Slowly he bended forward, till she could feel his breath on her neck. He moved even closer his lips to her ear… He could feel some shivers running down on her back. He started whispering the words that hurt and healed in the same time. He spoke of the departure, about the causes, about his and her mistakes, about the fact that she didn’t manage to do some things to express some things she should. But he knew that he was the only one to blame. He was surprised by the fact that she was so touched by his words… After all that time… Still she might feel what he…
What seemed to be just a few seconds were actually hours when he whispered and she listened… Her body shivered, his words echoed on her mind. When he was about to recognize that she is… But some may know already that reality can’t be ignored. When it feels itself ignored strikes back with an amazing power. So when he was about to make a confession to admit… a strange noise cam from downstairs. He’s senses gone mad, all his instincts turned crazy and his aura became unusually visible. He grabbed his sword and ran downstairs just to find a creature from hell. He unveiled his great sword which was glowing with the power of a thousand suns and stepped in front of the invisible and irresponsible youngster, prepared for anything.

Running behind the Balor, Darian saw that the paladin came out... The Paladin could have been though, but he surely wasn't though enough for a Balor, so he checked his Scroll Casket. He searched for a destruction spell.. He found something that looked usefull. He immediately started to read it. It took him a while, because he didn't want to make any mistakes. Slowly, word by word, he read the whole spell. To his horror, his hand started to tremble and a green form appeared on his finger. He thought it was something like a fire arrow, so he pointed his finger towards the Balor. The green light went directly to the Balor's heart, killing it instantly... Darian was petrified with fear, but the Balor's death reassured him. He looked to the paladin. He was filled with fear too, but a strange fear, as if he wanted revenge on such creatures, although he knew what they can do. Still shaking a bit, Darian went to the paladin. "Hi! I'm Darian, an adventurer from Luskan. And you are?"

The paladin's whispers and confessions had made her shiver like never before. Everything she had hoped for had been true, although she was feeling a little guilty for certain reasons as well... The sudden sound caught her by surprise, but she relaxed as she felt the presence of a creature as demonic as her own summoned fiends were. However, it was impossible for the paladin to ignore this presence, so she wasn't surprised when he started... "shining" in a certain manner, and ran downstairs with his sword. Sighing, slightly annoyed, she got up and followed the noise and the smell. Hell always had its own smell...
She lazily considered the scene. The adventurer she had seen earlier had just killed the Balor with a spell - pauvre Seigneur Balor, she thought -  while the paladin was still wielding the sword. She heard the adventurer's brief introduction and question adressed to the paladin; then she seemed to wake from the reverie and slid inside, next to the paladin.
"Allow me, since milord seems to be analysing your - alas dead - fiend. This is Zendurion, a noble paladin, as you might have figured by now. And my name is Karyonna."
She held up her hand for him to shake, and waited for the two men to react.

Name: Nymphadora Shadow Madyrn
Gender: Female
Race: Half elf
Class: Sorcerer
Alignment: Lawful good
Deity: Mystra
Weapons of Choice: Star Death (a silver covered quaterstaff she made, while living in the forest), and the Bow of Serenity

My real name is Nymphadora Madyrn Shadow, but it is a name I want to forget. I need a name that doesn't remind me of my past, and a new identity. I grew up in a village, in north of Faerun. My parents were very respected in the village, for they both were its deffenders. I had another sister who was two years older than me. My family was separated after the village was attacked by a certain Bondror. My parents died and my sister was taken by his men. I managed to hide in the forest, in a place only I knew. For two years I've been searching for my sister, but I had no luck until now. I studied sorcery the time I lived in my tree house in the forest, but wanted to learn more than just from books I found in what was left of our house, after it burned down. So I left.  I left to find my long lost sister and to become a sorceress. And I took a new name: Pol Valor.

I am called Night Raven but my real name is Nashana Tylnen. It's been so long since I used that name that I nearly forgotten it. Maybe it's better that way, if anyone knew it they would want me dead but it's not like I'm not hunted already. I remember a time when the name Tylnen used to inspire fear and respect but now as many other great names it faded in the mists of time and became just a memory. It belongs to a noble family...a family that became to powerful. In the end we were betrayed by my fathers best friend no less. My brothers, my sisters, my entire family were killed one night. In the chaos that followed, a servant guided me outside the castle throw a secret passage. I was alive but in one day I had lost everything I had, from the spoiled daughter of the richest nobles in the land I had become less than a lowlife beggar. All my family possessions winded up in the hands of the man that destroyed it and I was forced to steal in order to survive. Then one day a man caught me when I tried to pick pocket him. Instead of calling the guards he took my to his home. No point in saying that I was surprised in this but I later found out why.  It seems I had a natural talent in stealing and in two years I managed to hone this skill so much that I was never caught except for this man. He was the leader of the local thief's guild. At first I think he just saw a means of income but over the years we became closed and he was more like a father to me. Under his guidance I was not only train in the art of stealing but also in the art of killing. At 18 I  decided to work as an independent assassin and thief but I stilled consider the guild my home and if they ever needed me I would come without a second thought.
Rumors of a rich noble in the city of Aberford have reached my ears that has come in the posesion of a very rare and valuable jewel. Of course I was tempted but I got careless and the stupid noble sent his men after me! Luckily for me the city is surrounded by a thick forest. What better place to lose them?

In time I fell in love with the forest, with its creatures, with its splendor and purity. She proved to be of great comfort to me in times of need and suffering and she never abbandoned me. As a result, it grew on me... and me on her. So I became its guardian, its protector when the hand of mortals would want to harm her. Therefore, for a long time now, I would take long strolls through the woods surrounding my cabin in search of foul acts upon "my love".
This day should have been no different from the others, as I went on may usual rout, but it soon turned out to be a turning point in my life... It's not that I haven't met people before in "my" forest, but from the moment I saw her I knew something was about to happen to my lifestyle, from that point forward. Thus I was not quite surprised when I came accross a small camp that appeared to be improvised during the night. I approached it ith great care - as I usually do in circumstances like those - inspecting it from a safe distance. I noticed only one person and from the looks of the camp it did not appear to be anyone else with her. Yes, the person was a "she", a most beautiful half-elf to be exact. She was asleep and I got near her, careful not to wake her up. "She most be a rogue" I thought to myself "judging by the looks of her clothes and by her messy hair. She must have been trying to get away from something... or someone and travelled all night" as it would be quite a difficult job to catch a rogue off-guard. I stood beside her for a while inspecting her appearence - and what a dashing sight it was! - and after a brief moment when my thoughts ran of to some distant places in my past, I carefully disarmed her. For some reason I didn't want to wake her up, although I couldn't just let her go without at least an explanation for her presence there. So I waited a few paces back from her dormant body until she woke up.

@Nashana
- "Welcome to the Leandor Forest and I am its keeper" I said to her firmly, but not shouting."Might I inquire what are you doing in my forest?" She sprung to her feet and her right hand went like a flash to her belt... but her dagger wasn't there. "Stay your hand and I shall do so with mine, especially since I am armed" my right hand layed on my sword and my left one held her dagger "and you are not". Not for a single moment was she scared, but at first her eyes glared with the flame of an instinctive predator. She cooled down almost in an instant, as she understood perfectly the position she was in. And her whole expression changed: from the deadly nightstalker* to a perfectly harmless - in appearance - kitten.
- "I will ask again but it will be for the last time: who are you and what are you doing in my forest?"

Ok... so the paladin was petrified with fear and wasn't able to talk. So Darian went to the blackguard. "Pleased to meet you. I think I saw you a few days ago in Cloakwood. Am I mistaken?". The blackguard responded coldly: "No, you aren't.". "You were hiding quite well, but that doesn't matter. What matters now is that there are undead in the forest of High Hedge. I killed one yesterday, but, ahm, they don't usualy go in ones. And there might be a lich around there too, because they surely DON'T go independent, at least skeletons don't. And as you see, I do know a few, hopefuly, useful spells. And I can fight and cast a spell in the same time, but that's for later. So, what do you say? And can you please tell the pa... Zendurion too? Or should I dispel him, maybe he is Held from that much fear?"

This forest is like a maze. I'll be damned if I can make heads or tails of it! As night fell I decided is best to set up camp, if I couldn't find my way out in broad day light it’s little chance I will have more success only with the help of the moon. I set up camp near a small river, it's low sough combined with the calming sounds of the forest quikly bringing me into a deep slumber. Something was wrong. I quikly sprang to my feet and before me stood a tall, fairly handsome man with an earthy appearance. Instinctively my hand went to my dagger but to my surprise it wasn't there.

@Daemian
Damn! How could I let this fool get so close as to disarm me? He has gotten me at a slight disadvantage but things will not remain so and perhaps he can still be useful. I put on my most charming smile. â€Ã,Please good sir there is no need to threaten me. Can you not see that I'm a scared woman that has lost her way in the forest? I beg of you! Would you not help guide me? â€Ã,

Ok fine, maybe I'm not scared but what I told you is true. I was on my way to the city of Taman and got lost. Now if you would be so kind too guide me out of this damn forest. That is a rangers job nu? To guide lost travelers. Or at least give me back my weapon so I won't become pray to all the creatures here. Don't worry, the only thing I want is to get out off here. So will you help me or not!?

"A ranger's job is to protect the forest. And on ocasions those in need of my help. You do seem lost so I will guide you through, but I will not give you back your weapon... not yet anyway. I still don't know your motives miss and for that I have no reason to trust you. Now, if you will follow me I will lead you to my cabin where you will have a decent meal and a place to rest. And then perhaps you will tell me more."

I then began walking in front of her towards my cabin. I coul feel her piercing eyes behind my back watching my every move, studying me, trying to get inside my head. I smiled briefly and then proceeded onwards through the thickness of the forest...

She is somehow impressed by this bold request. However, she must act as noble as a Guild's leader. A service in exchange for a teleport scroll. She knows she can't ask too much from the stranger, as he doesn't seem capable of who-knows-what deeds, but maybe he can be useful after all. She takes a serious, somehow superior glance at the stranger and says on a somehow official tone: "The Guild is eager to help you when it comes to this kind of problems. As the Archmage, I would be able to provide you with one of these scrolls, but I need proof that I can trust you. " She doesn't seem too convinced of her words, as she realises she reacted somehow exagerated...What trust could she hope for? "I presume that you are willing to, let's say, help the Guild in a way. I suspect an apprentice of treachery. For some time, things have been disappearing from the guild, not very important things, but I think this apprentice has something to do with the Thieves Guild. If someone from the guild would follow him he would keep out from his actions. You however, wouldn't cause him any concern. You follow him, and tell me what you found out, and you have the scroll. Is this a fair offer? "

The entire trip was silent, neither of us talked. I followed closely behind him, observing him and trying to find any weaknesses. â€Ã...“Great. As things weren't bad enough, now nature boy has to drag me to his houseâ€Ã,. The ranger walked with incredible ease as though he was one with the forest. â€Ã...“ He must have lived here for a long time. It must be very lonely living here with only the trees to keep you company I really can't help but wonder what drove him to this life style. He looks young with a full life ahead of him, whatever...â€Ã, â€Ã...“Auch!!â€Ã, Not realizing that he stoped, I bumped right into him, the force of the impact knocking me down. Annoyed, I quickly rose up and followed him inside the cabin, not failing to notice the smug smile he had on. The interior was small but it was clean and it had a homey atmosphere to it.

â€Ã...“Hmmm... I still have a vial of sleeping potion, he said something about food now if he will eat with me maybe I can distract him and slip it into his food. That will be only if I run out of options, there is no way that I can reveal my identity, he would surely kill me if he found out, or worse turn me in for a ransomâ€Ã,. I turned to him and gave him a defiant look. â€Ã...“What now?â€Ã,

@RedDevil:
What a task... i thought that for such a scroll she would make me hunt all the demons in this land... but beggars can't be choosers.
"It shall be done, my lady. I shall find you when the task is... finished." Then i casted an invisibility spell and walked away slowly, without a sound.

As the night comes i am outside the Mages' guild, hidden behind a big Tamarin tree.  About midnight a silhouette exits the Mages' guild. From the stealthy apperance and the soft walk it seems that it wants to pass unnoticed.This must be the troublesome apprentice. As i lay down behind the tree I hear him casting a "true sight" spell. It's a good thing that all these years as a cursed one made me stealthy enough not to need to rely on my "invisibility" spell. As nothing strange attracts his eye, the apprentice walks swiftly towards the first dark street. I follow him with a soft step keeping myself in the shadows. After a few corners he reaches the Thief's guild with me right behind him. His "true sight" spell wears off as he enters the guild building and if I want to follow I must do it quick. I cast my "invisibility" spell and enter the building. The corridors are dark and small. As i avoid an acid trap and an electric wire I reach a well lit room. Here is the apprentice and a small man sitting in a chair.

The apprentice :" Here you are. The last shipment. These "detect magic" and "true sight" scrolls should help you enter the governor's mansion and avoid the magical traps and the invisible golem put there by the guild and you can loot in peace. Now for my payment..."

The thief:"Thank you, my dear. But you see, since I don't need you anymore..."and as he was talking his hand touched a small statue on his desk and five poisoned arrows sprang from the portrait behind him. Two of them hit the apprentice killing him instantly but as i was ducking not to be hit by one of them I touched a vase and it came crumbling down. The surprised thief reached one of his hands towards a dagger and the other towards a "true sight" scrool but my trusty "finger of death" passed him into the afterlife before he could use any of them. I sat for a few moments to listen. The alarm wasn't triggered. Then I took the scrolls and cast a "bull's strength" spell that allowed me to raise both bodies on my shoulders. As I left the guild the streets were free of any walkers and I reached the Mages' guild at about three o'clock in the morning. At the gate of the Mages' guild a guard was waiting.
"I have some business with the Archmage. Get her!" I said in a very persuading voice. "But sir, she must be sleeping..." the guard answered.
"Well, then you will wake her up if you don't want to end like them!"
After a few minutes he returned with the Archmage at his side. She seemed furious but before she could say a word I started to tell her what happend. After I finished my story I said :"Sorry I had to wake you, but you needed to know the story before the Thief's guild finds out that it has lost its leader. Now you shall decide what to do with this conflict. It will probably get messy, but this is not my problem. Now for my payment..."

off-topic - sorry, but these two (namely milord the paladin and dame la chevaliere noire) have really been spending some time together, IRL as a friend likes saying, if you get my point. but we're back now  :)

She considered the paladin with a "scanning" look.
"Nope, he doesn't need any dispelling. He's just a bit stunned I believe, Balors can have a very disrupting effect sometimes. You're lucky not to have been touched, but... I believe you were his creator, weren't you?" She seemed quite interested by the hellish beast."Not that I would consider summoning one, this place isn't so... appropriate to test such craftings, especially with Balors."
Despite that, her eyes were betraying the not-at-all-faint temptation of trying such a thing.
"Now, about those undead... What you say is very interesting, and I am able to see you have a great desire of eliminating the mentioned critters. It would be very interesting to join your quest, as... personal as it may be for you." she almost hissed. Then, trying not to make Darian unconfortable because of what she had sensed, she turned towards both men and added "I'd suggest something, to both of you. Since I haven't been to a good hunt for ages, I'd like to join our new aquaintance Darian. But Zendurion and I haven't quite finished our talk, and you, Darian, you would use some rest tonight. Trust me." she said eyeing his appearance. "So we should all meet up in the morning and discuss about it more. Besides, I also have a spell or two I might use to find some information about the object of our hunt. What do you say? Both of you, I mean."

"Not your problem, what do you mean not your problem?"Her voice seems even more aggresive: "You've just started a war and you're telling me that's not your problem? And what for? A damn spell scroll!" She sighs. "What am I going to do now? Why on Earth did I ask you to do this?" She thinks of a solution, but she is too furious to think clear. "Here take the scroll, what can I say, you've really earned it." But while being sarcastic, her face enlightens. It was still dark..."You'd help the guild in a way, wouldn't you? You'll be rewarded, you have my word... The temple...the temple always wanted to see the Thief's Guild leader dead. What if we bring proof that they killed him? They wouldn't dare to start a war against the temple. We only need..."She turns to the guard and whispers something. In a minute the guard comes with a book that wears the emblem of the temple. She casts a fire spell and deteriorates the book, letting the emblem untouched. "This was the killer's book, it was damaged in battle and droped while he ran...Now we only need to place it at the crime scene...But why am I telling you all this? Are you going to do this or not?"She waits for his answer while thinking: "He'd better accept my offer. Otherwise I'd have to go there myself. And there's no point getting my hands dirty. Hell, I know almost nothing about this kind of things."
